Unintentional Entrepreneur is an initiative brought to you by SCORE, Outright.com and Network Solutions to support the challenges facing a unique segment of new business owners; Unintentional Entrepreneurs. With little help from the credit market, government, or economy, we're a country with explosive growth amongst self-employed professionals, side business owners, recently laid-off employees or freelancers who have marketable skills, experience and knowledge that they are using to start or run their own businesses during the economic downturn.
The D.C. workshop is part of a five-city tour (Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington D.C.) for Unintentional Entrepreneurs; providing an opportunity to learn from veteran entrepreneurs, network with local small business owners, and gain insight in the following areas:
Pragnesh Shah is a dynamic executive leader with diverse experience in privately held start-up ventures, a publicly-traded Fortune 100 company, and U.S. government agency NASA. His experience spans mobile communications, E-commerce, and aerospace industries.
Pragnesh is currently at Network Solutions, serving as Vice President & GM leading E-Commerce, Web Design, and Content Strategy for the company’s largest revenue channel via online. He was most recently President & CEO of Mobilians International, Inc., a start-up mobile and Internet payments enterprise and subsidiary of a South Korean company. Previously, he had over 10 years of experience with $40B communications company Sprint Nextel Corporation. He spent most of his time in the Sprint PCS wireless venture: a start-up company that achieved $10B revenues faster than any company in U.S. history. At Sprint he served in several executive roles including Vice President Product Innovation where he led partnerships with companies to drive incubation of new lines of business in mobile commerce, telematics, entertainment, and digital media. He launched Sprint’s Mobile Media Network, the mobile advertising line of business for Sprint. As Sprint’s Vice President & GM E-Commerce Business Unit, he was responsible for driving large-scale e-commerce transactions, web usability design, software development, and web operations. He launched innovative wireless web products, portals, and platforms that today garner over $7B revenue. At Sprint, he also held executive level positions in customer operations, sales/marketing, merger integration, corporate strategic planning, and was business assistant to the Sprint Chairman and CEO.
Prior to Sprint, Pragnesh’s experience includes five years of aerospace engineering experience with NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. At NASA he led various mechanical design, analysis, testing, and ground handling operations for two in-house spacecraft programs: the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) and the Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer (EUVE).
He earned an M.B.A. from The Harvard Business School, and M.S. Space Systems Engineering and B.S. Mechanical Engineering degrees from The George Washington University.
Pragnesh actively serves on the Board of Advisors for MobileDiscovery Inc., a mobile marketing & media services company. He is also Co-Founder & Advisor for Hornbill Media Inc. and its Web 2.0 multimedia publishing site Yondr.com. He serves on the Governance Committee of the Mindshare CEO Group and was a guest lecturer for the Georgetown University Executive MBA Program. He has been quoted in wireless, E-commerce, and payments news media.
Born in Washington, D.C., he is a native of the DC metro area now residing with his wife and son in northern Virginia.
